Frog dreams

Just when we thought it wasn't possible to be any more astounded than we already have been, Layla has produced this amazing track. Korg software has again been used to produce a dance music type track which has a more progressive structure than traditional pop music.

We hope you enjoy 'Frog Dreams' as much as we do. Well done Layla, for yet another amazing piece of work.

This is a piece of music created by Layla in Robins using the Korg gadget app. Every note played, that is every drum strike etc, was made individually by Layla. Ten tracks were mixed to make this one amazing piece of music. Making music in this way is a very time consuming and intricate process which took approximately six weeks. This work far exceeds the standard expected of someone Layla’s age and would meet Key Stage 4 expectations if not higher!

We are all really proud of what Layla has achieved. It looks like we have a music producer of the future at The Meads.

Hole In The Playground

Last half term I'm sure you all noticed that there was a hole in the playground. Fortunately it has been repaired now but while it was there Mr Bateman made a video with Mr Jenkins and Mr Warren that the children used as an impetus for their writing!

Children in year 3 watched the video and were given a series of pictures to help them come up with ideas. They needed to use their imagination as well as focus on using vocabulary and tools with which to create a vivid description of what might have been heard, seen, smelt, and felt, both emotionally and physically during the event that Mr Jenkins experienced! Have a look at some of their work below and click "read more" to see the video!

Night at The Museum

Year 3 have been working hard on becoming reporters. They have explored the features that make up a good newspaper article and a T.V. news report. Here you can see their hard work come together as they report on the mysterious events of The Night at The Museum.

Year 3 WOW Day

Children in Year 3 had great time learning about the Indian culture. In class they have been reading Grandpa Chatterji and have written diary entries, character descriptions and described settings from India.

During our WOW day children were provided with the opportunity to take part in several activities followed by an Indian tea party.

Take a look at our video to find out!

Sign feelings and behaviour

We have held two parent workshops about Sign for Feelings and Behaviour over the past two weeks.  We have been using signing throughout the school in all of our lessons and out in the playground as well.  The children enjoy the signing and it is a super way to extend their vocabulary.  If you missed the workshops and you'd like to find out more, please let us know.
